We are often asked the difference between Prawns and Shrimps. Biologically they are different, prawns have more claws than shrimps, different ways of reproducing and belong to a different family but often the term is used interchangeably.
The small North Atlantic pink shrimp (the classic cocktail prawn) are caught mainly in the
Warm salt water prawns, aka Tiger can be wild or farmed. Warm, freshwater are usually shell on, sometimes headless.
We have large and small, warm and cold water, peeled and deveined, shell on, cooked and raw. We have a whole lot of prawns!
